Living and Eating in Harmony instead of searching for a ‘Perfect’ Balance

Balance. Sometimes It feels like a mirage in a desert. Is it actually attainable? If you are a busy mom like me, it rarely feels like you have a ‘perfect’ balance between family life, work life, faith, friendships, self-care. But WHAT IF your perception of a balanced life is unrealistic? And do all aspects of your life need the same amount of time and energy everyday? Every month?

What if our lives are more like harmonious symphonies of sounds, instruments, rhythms, and songs. The instruments and sounds are different parts of your life. The instruments create songs that are unique and beautiful. Each song is different, just like each season in your life. When your life is in harmony, there may be more of one instrument playing loudly than another. The goal is to achieve harmony Instead of constantly searching for a ‘perfect’ balance in each area of your life.

You can think of your eating pattern using the same concept. In some warmer months, you may drink more smoothies and citrus water. While in the colder months, you focus more of grounding root vegetables and soups. Your diet varies from day to day, but as long as you have a foundation of whole, nutritious foods, it is your symphony and your song to create. There is no need to count calories, macros, or grams of protein. Everyday will be slightly different and you do not need to worry about having that ‘perfect’ balance of each.

Some days that bag of ruffles with be calling your name (speaking from experience). Other days you make a big salad for lunch and eat up all the leftover veggies in your refrigerator! Each day will have new foods to discover and new recipes to create. Don’t get bogged down in having a schedule or specific meal plan. That sh*t doesn’t work in real life. What does work is having a foundation of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and regular hydration. Those go-to snack like an apple and dates or crackers and hummus that you can keep coming back to when life gets crazy busy.

At the end of the day, it is your symphony and your song. Your beautiful harmony that you can decide to create. I am only here as a guide and a friend to help you navigate.
